UK Student Visa Financial Requirements

For a UK student visa, you need to demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses. Here's what you need to know:

  • Bank statements must cover a 28-day period ending no more than 31 days before your application date.
  • The required amount includes your first year's tuition fees plus living expenses for up to 9 months (or the length of your course if shorter).
  • Living expenses are set at £1,334 per month for courses in London and £1,023 per month for courses outside London.
  • Funds should be held in an account in your name or your parents' names. If using your parents' account, you'll need to provide proof of your relationship.
  • The funds should be in a convertible currency, but it's often recommended to show the equivalent in British Pounds (GBP).
  • Use a cash account that is readily accessible. Fixed deposits or investments are usually not accepted.
  • Maintain a consistent balance above the required amount for the entire 28-day period.
